After what seems like an eternity… The Hare and Hounds in Marlow has officially re-opened for business following a complete refit – new bars, new cellar, new furniture, new wine store, updated patio with improved access from the upper car park.
The new licensee Anthony Burnham is also the owner of another already highly successful pub and restaurant in Marlow -The Two Brewers. Based on our high opinion of that establishment, we think this is all excellent news for Marlow – and we will be visiting very soon for a full review. Can’t wait!
Anthony told us that the objective is to return The Hare and Hounds to its former glory as a traditional 16th Century Pub offering great beers along with a high quality food offering – and he says initial feedback following a soft opening has been very positive.
In addition to the 2 bars and snug area, the pub boasts an a la Carte restaurant with 2 separate areas offering an extensive menu plus traditional English pub food. A special children’s menu is also provided along with goodie bags.
Anthony claims to be providing the largest wine selection (over 50) of any pub in Marlow with 20 wines by the glass including Champagne and Prosseco, as well as real ales (of course including our local Rebellion), premium lagers and bottled beers.
He is also very pleased with the new management team, with backgrounds in two very highly regarded Heston Blumenthal establishments – Sophie Kilgour from The Hinds Head in Bray (Michelin Pub of the Year 2011) and Emma Colwill from The Fat Duck in Bray (Michelin 3 Star restaurant). There are three new fulltime highly experienced chefs – all of whom will be overseen by Executive Chef, Steven Hurst, from The Two Brewers.
