Marlow’s famous Santa Fun Run is nearly upon us – it’s this Sunday 3rd December.
Final preparations are all in hand – and fingers crossed re the weather. The MyMarlow mid-range forecast if for “occasional bright or sunny intervals” which would be just fine!
We are advised that no less than 4 Olympic/Paralympic Gold Medallists will be running – Sir Steve Redgrave, Naomi Riches MBE, Greg Searle MBE and Alex Danson MBE. We also understand that a number of other well known faces might be spotted by the eagle eyed….
The race starts at 9.30AM, and road closures will apply until around 11.00AM. The start arrangements will be slightly different to previous years – and runners will be advised by tannoy on the morning.
The JAM Theatre Company will again entertain spectators on the High Street one the runners have passed.
David Sutherland – who chairs the Fun Run organising committee told us “Without doubt the interest this year has exceeded all previous years. There will be something for everyone on the day – and we expect the High Street to be a very special place. 2500 Father Xmas’s, the JAM Theatre Company, music and large numbers of spectators. All having fun and making a great contribution to mainly local charities!”

Pop Up Fun at the Finish Line
Gourmet Picture Company, behind this years Pop Up cinema festival, will also be at the finish line- encouraging all Santas to take a picture with their fun movie-themed props. You will be able to find your picture on their Facebook page or website – www.gourmetpicturecompany.co.uk and the best picture will win two tickets to a screening of your choice! GPC have also made a donation of £250 to Santa Fun Run to support the local charity.

From 10am, we are serving Bacon Sandwiches and Egg & Avocado Sandwiches with a choice of either Tea or Coffee for £5! You can sit in and enjoy the warmth of The Botanist or ask for a takeaway box to enjoy spectating on the street. The first 20 runners who show their medal will receive a complimentary hot beverage!
