Sunday December 3rd:  2,500 people took part in the ever popular Santa Fun Run, organised by The Rotary Clubs of Marlow. Slightly drizzly weather, but no-one was put off and festive fun was had by all!

Naomi Riches led a pre-race warm up and Sir Steve Redgrave gave the official starters orders. The race proceeded up Marlow High Street,  followed by the stunning spectacle of 2,500 Santas filling the High Street!  Jam Theatre also braved the elements to entertain spectators in the High Street once the runners had passed through!

The men’s race was won by Dave Lawley, with Stephen Francis second and Sam Haynes third.

Hannah Hurst won the female race, with Kate Sophoclides second and Sophie Whitworth third.

As usual a range of charities will benefit from proceeds. The lead charities for 2017 are Scanappeal and Compassionate Friends, and representatives of each received significant initial payments at the awards ceremony.

David Sutherland, Chair of the Fun Run Organising Committee, said “The run this year was a great success, and despite a few weather worries most of the event took place in fairly dry conditions. We were delighted to see the start take place at the bottom of the High Street for the very first time. Whilst this allowed an even better visual spectacle it also reduced congestion in the park, and we hope it was seen positively by the participants. Even so it took around 10 minutes for all the runners to clear the start line.
