The Old Brewery – all set to open

| |

‘The Old Brewery’, Marlow High Street’s newest pub, will be opening on Tuesday 13th March after a £300,000 restoration.  The transformed Slug & Lettuce is aiming for traditional pub values, plus a modern edge with sports, craft beer, daily events and a 2am licence. It has brought with it eight new jobs.

The surprise discovery by builders of a hidden old fireplace with a “TW & S” inscription in the wall, dates back to when the pub was part of the original “Thomas Wethered & Sons” brewery. The inscription is now set to be a feature of the pub after owners altered plans to retain it, and with it, the legacy of beer heritage.

“Restoring the building to a proper pub centred around traditional pub values, is the perfect tribute to its heritage.” manager Indrit Bala told us.

“We’re including plenty of social elements too, with fun weekends including offering groups a pre-booked area with mini bar,” added Indrit. “There’s something going on every day, a DJ every Friday and Saturday night plays from 9pm until 2am.”

Just in time for the 17th March Six Nations final, and ahead of the World Cup, BT and Sky Sports multi-boxes have been installed, broadcast across nine HD TVs and a big screen. Sports coverage will include Pay Per View events such as the big Joshua fight 31st March – and there will be Sports Table Service during game time to make sure no score is ever missed.

The Old Brewery will have seventeen beers, lagers and ciders. Marlow’s Rebellion Brewery 4.6% ‘Roasted Nuts’ and 3.7% Rebellion IPA are joined by Doom Bar, and London Pride. Craft beers London Lager and Brewdog IPA join premium lagers Bud light, Amstel, Stella, San Miguel, Peroni and Heineken Extra Cold. There are 2-4-1 cocktails all day every day, and of large gin range.

There’s a completely new menu from 9am breakfast and all day pub food. There’s a lunchtime club deal, pub grub including Fish & Chips and Beef & Ale Pie, Burgers, Grills, Build-your-own Planks, and even Calorie Counters like the ‘Guilt Free Chicken Burger’.

Daily events include:

  • Monday – Fifa night
