Glaze restaurant in the Crowne Plaza

| |

It has been a bit overdue (living where we do, it’s just too easy to walk to the town centre restaurants) – but we finally visited Glaze restaurant in the Crowne Plaza.  I had been told they were recently awarded an AA Rosette for the food there, so it seemed a good excuse to go and check things out.

Service was attentive, and staff were willing to recommend dishes.  Warm bread rolls came out straight away with oil/balsamic to dip into, always a pleasant way to ponder over the menu.

There was a comprehensive wine list and something that stood out was the ability to order a carafe (about half a bottle) of most wines on the list.  Useful if one of you is driving, and the other doesn’t want to down a whole bottle!

Starters were in the range £6-£9, and we picked one each from either end of the scale. Scallops with Green Pea Puree and Chorizo dressing – was a great combination of flavours with scallops cooked perfectly.  Our other starter was the Spinach Tortellini, nicely al-dente.

For mains we went for the Rib Eye steak (£19), and Lamb rump (£16).  Both were cooked exactly as we wanted – steak was medium as requested, and the lamb was just perfectly pink in the middle. Accompaniments were fine, and we went for some additional green beans too.

Desserts were around £6 – I took the recommendation to try the chocolate fondant desert, which had an advertised 15 minute wait, but took a bit less than that – and was delicious.  We also enjoyed the peach crumble with clotted cream ice cream.

So in summary,  a very enjoyable meal, and decent value. It’s a bit out of the way from Marlow town centre, but worth the visit to try it out.
