The reopened Britannia pub – Our review

| |

The all new Britannia pub opens on Thursday 22nd November.

A couple of days ago, we posted an article with some pictures of the interior – and now we have been for a preview of their food and drink offering.

In case you weren’t aware – the Britannia has been completely refitted following its purchase by McMullens, a brewery and pub group that is also opening the new Baroosh bar in the High Street.

The photos below give more detail about the premises and what will be in store if you visit.

The food is all very good value – nothing costs more than £10.  Many dishes come in 2 or 3 sizes, a good idea in catering for different appetites or for children – and they have a separate menu with a few child specific items too.

As well as the Sharer Plate starter pictured below, I tried the Chicken and Steak Combo at £9.99. The steak was cooked just how I like, and as requested, whilst the chicken might be considered a house speciality perhaps.  Chickens are cooked on their rotisserie, which is visible through a window into the kitchen, and mine was succulent and tasty. The meal was rounded off with a decent portion of sticky toffee pudding.  At the end of the meal I was absolutely stuffed!  It’s all decent, filling pub grub at very reasonable prices.

In these times, it is great to have a company like McMullens investing millions of pounds opening  two premises in Marlow. Steve and Karen, the couple running the pub have plenty of experience running large pubs elsewhere in the country, and from what we saw last night they have assembled a friendly and efficient team. If you live nearby… this is probably the pub you have been waiting for, and no doubt it will prove very popular!

  1. I enjoyed our first visit to the Britannia!

It was very busy, but we managed to find a table. Reasonably priced pub grub, with helpful staff!

It is good to have another local.

Well done guys. I wish you every success!
    😀
