churchill - outside After a short period of refurbishment, The Chequers re-opens today, Monday 30th March at at 11am.

If you are a fan of the steaks and grills, have no fear – none of that is changing.

However, one change that we are quite excited about is converting what was known as the “Whiskey Bar” – ie the left hand snug bar into “The Churchill Tap“, which will be selling a range of ales from Brakspear and other local breweries, in addition to international craft beers.

churchill logoDescribed as “Marlow’s first craft beer & ale shrine”,  it even has its own website containing a long list of available beers and a describing the offering thus:

” You don’t need to be an expert in the art of brewing to appreciate what’s on offer, our beer connoisseur is on hand to chat through the range, tasting notes and where it comes from. There will be an ever-changing range of up to ten draught beers including cask ale, stout, lager and cider, as well as a hand-picked selection of bottles too.
There’s also a daily bar menu available so you can graze as you sup, including scotch eggs, sausage rolls, pork scratchings and a selection of cheese with crusty bread too. So come on in, relax, talk beer if you want to, and enjoy what’s on offer.”

churchill beer 2On Thursday 2nd April from 7pm they have an opening party night – including some nice free samples from the new menu.

  1. It’s very expensive, even for a craft beer pub! Not much chance of trying some new beers at £6 a pint. And it seems to be empty most of the time as people head back towards the familiar and more comfortable main Chequers bar.
