What’s was hot on MyMarlow in 2016?  We have reviewed our Facebook statistics to find out the most Liked, Commented, Shared and viewed posts of the year.  In the top 10 we had stories of the success of local Olympians in Rio 2016, a lot of buzz around Tom Kerridge’s Pop up Picture House, and some of our photos proved very popular. However the Top 4 were:

Mary Berry was the big name star who switched on our Christmas Lights. MyMarlow.co.uk was on top of the bus to capture the event, and we published a video of the actual switch on. This broke records all over the place…. our video was

2ND MOST LIKED: Bridge reopens

2nd most popular, and 2nd most shared was the welcome news that Marlow Bridge was given the all clear to reopen. It was a welcome surprise, most of us had been fearing the worst and assumed an even longer period of closure following a 37 tonne HGV managing ignore the 3 tonne limit and cross it. Thankfully, soon this will all be a distant memory!

Some news topics might be expected to be popular, but we love sharing old photos from our archives, and these too can prove very popular.  Amazingly, the image below was seen by 32,911 Facebook users, and got 779 Likes. Imagine if the original photographer could have known that one day his photo would one day have that sort of audience in the space of a few hours!!

4TH MOST POPULAR – the Ivy comes to Marlow

www.facebook.com/MyMarlowUK/posts/1298376360184403

A big story for Marlow High Street was news of plans by the Ivy group to open a restaurant in town.  We broke the news of the story well before any of the traditional local press – and as a result it was shared far and wide.  In the end it got 519 Likes, 165 Shares, and was seen by 39,800 Facebook users.

We are of course in contact with The Ivy, and will be bringing you much more detail on things in due course.
