Heritage Day events in Marlow 10th/11th September

Two events this weekend as part of the national Heritage Day initiative, and entry to all events is free.

Widmere Chapel, Widmere Lane, Marlow (Saturday September 10th – 10am to 4pm.)

A rare chance to visit the crypt of this ancient and atmospheric chapel which once belonged to the Knights Templars. There will be guided tours of the interior and exhibitions about the history of the building over the centuries and about the activities of the Templars in our local area.

The event is presented in conjunction with the Marlow Archaeological Society.

 

The Courtyard, Old Wethered Brewery, Marlow High Street (Sunday September 11th – 10am to 4pm.)

An exhibition about the history of the Wethered Brewery in the 20th century and its role as a munitions factory during WWI. Three stands of photos, memorabilia and information including a county project to help you trace ancestors who undertook war service. Unveiling of a plaque to the memory of the workers who died during the war. Guided tours of the Marlow Brewery estate.

The event is presented in conjunction with the Marlow Remembers World War One Association.
