Breakfast special.....

breakfastA lot of places in town have different breakfast menus - so we thought it worthwhile considering these aspects separately. It also gave us an excuse to eat out in the morning as well as the night before......

We welcome contributions to this section, to provide visitors with a variety of information (not just our comments) .... so click here submit your own reviews and comments.

Caffe Fego
Undoubtedly my favourite spot for breakfast - with a great selection of food and drinks served by efficient and friendly staff in pleasant surroundings. I tend to alternate between - Full cooked breafast (beans are served in their own special pot - how posh is that!) - (massive) Bacon and cheese omelette Also serves what i rate is easily the best coffee in town.

Costa Coffee (website)
Standard selection of paninis, muffins etc - and the Breakfast Club Sandwich is nice and filling. As per the main review, the benefit of breakfast here is the size of the place means you can probably find a nice quiet spot upstairs to have a relaxing read of the Sunday papers...

Pips
A really good range of cooked breakfasts ranging from "Beans on Toast" to the huge "Bucks Biggest". Prices all very reasonable - a good value and pleasant breakfast location. Opens 7am Tues-Fri, 8am Mon, 8:30am Sat. As noted in the main cafe review - not open on Sunday!

Starbucks
Best for an early breakfast, since from 10.30 onwards it really starts to fill up and gets clogged by numerous oversized pushchairs and so forth. However when it's quiet - it's great to relax with the paper in one of the big comfy chairs, although it has to be said the seating and decor could do with a bit of a refur. Breakfast options include various paninis, muffins etc.

Cafe In the Park (website)
A decent range of breakfasts including variations on the cooked breakfast - vegetarian and even Middle Eastern! the actual cooked full English is tasty, and I'd recommend paying extra for a bit of the delicious black pudding. Hmmmmm. Bacon or sausage sandwiches, with decent hot drinks on offer too. My new favourite stop off point after my Sunday morning bike ride!

Cafe Copia (website)
Quite a variety on offer: Bacon/sausage etc wraps and sandwiches, eggs or beans on toast, cereals, pancakes, yoghurts, croissants and so on. The “Suffolk bacon, cheddar and tomato” wrap I tried was tasty, filling and well presented. Fresh fruits and smoothies are on offer as well as the expected coffees and teas.

I had a very enjoyable breakfast buffet here. The usual things you would expect for a quality hotel - cereals, pastries and of course the all important cooked full English buffet. I always prefer being able to compose my own breakfast - and in particular I was impressed by the comprehensive range - e.g.2 different types of sausage were on offer. Free newspapers, and a relaxed atmosphere added to the enjoyment.

Francescos
I tried the largest breakfast on the menu... and when it came was worried i couldnt manage it - truly massive! Interestingly they have a number of more unusual cooked breakfast combinations such as vegetarian (ok, not so interesting) and pasta with bacon and eggs (come on.. that is a bit unusual?). Recommended.

Brasserie Gerard (website)
"The Brasserie's traditional English breakfast - open toasted country bread topped with grilled bacon, sausage, tomato, field mushroom and served with scrambled, poached or fried egg"... for £5.50 was tasty and non greasy and not bad value for money. Nice big cappuccinos too.. recommended!

Wimpy (website)
The All Day Breakfast of 2 slices of bacon, an egg, frankfurter, tomato and chips is ok, but nothing special. In particular it's the frankfurter instead of a banger that lets it down. But if you fancy a change, there are things such as th Bacon Grill.. including a burger in your breakfast!
