The Cedar Coffee Shop

Costa Coffee

photo of pub or restaurantHas two locations in town – one on West Street – a listed, beamed building makes it a pleasant spot – especially the upstairs section, and it has a garden too.  The other location is in Higginson Park, so is obviously popular with passing trade.  We don’t like to be negative about locations in town, but at time of writing we have given up visiting BOTH of these locations due to poor customer service experiences on recent visits – slow service , apparently untrained staff and poorly made drinks.  If you are visiting the town, there are plenty of other great independent offerings, of if chains are your thing – our Starbucks is quite decent.

Caffe Fego

photo of pub or restaurantA definite favourite of ours for breakfast, but throughout the day it is well worth a visit for a great selection of meals and snacks of all sorts, and (of particular interest to me) the portions are usually generous. An inventive selection of drinks (e.g.Nutella cappuccino!), and very good coffee. In fact, just writing this makes me want to visit, so I’ll finish here and pop down….

Penguin Fish Bar and Cafe

photo of pub or restaurantHas a small seating area, so that makes it a sort of restaurant. Nice clean premises, and most importantly excellent chips. Also open late enough for those post-pub chip cravings (as long as you leave the pub before 11pm!)

Starbucks

photo of pub or restaurantWith a mid High Street location, this is a popular and convenient spot for a coffee, and a convenient place to meet up, and if relevant to you – are open very early every day. The food and drinks are of course just the same menu as any other Starbucks, but I would have to say that they do at least seem to train the staff to a high standard – the drinks are consistently well made, and the welcome is friendly.  This seems to be reinforced by a set of loyal regular customers who I often spot when dropping in!

La Satollo

Image result for La Satollo marlowThis is a gem of an Italian cafe! Hidden away off the High Street in Liston Court but worth finding. Excellent lunch, great atmosphere, amazing coffee. It’s small, buzzy, they have seating inside and out, great service and the food is tasty. Also Great for a cheeky glass of wine late afternoon and they are now open some evenings!
