The Cedar Coffee Shop
Lovely small cafe, with a huge selection of cakes if that tickles your fancy. The savoury snacks are just as enticing – the coronation chicken wrap is a definite lunch favourite and well recommended.

Has two locations in town – one on West Street – a listed, beamed building makes it a pleasant spot – especially the upstairs section, and it has a garden too. The other location is in Higginson Park, so is obviously popular with passing trade. We don’t like to be negative about locations in town, but at time of writing we have given up visiting BOTH of these locations due to poor customer service experiences on recent visits – slow service , apparently untrained staff and poorly made drinks. If you are visiting the town, there are plenty of other great independent offerings, of if chains are your thing – our Starbucks is quite decent.

A definite favourite of ours for breakfast, but throughout the day it is well worth a visit for a great selection of meals and snacks of all sorts, and (of particular interest to me) the portions are usually generous. An inventive selection of drinks (e.g.Nutella cappuccino!), and very good coffee. In fact, just writing this makes me want to visit, so I’ll finish here and pop down….

Penguin Fish Bar and Cafe
Has a small seating area, so that makes it a sort of restaurant. Nice clean premises, and most importantly excellent chips. Also open late enough for those post-pub chip cravings (as long as you leave the pub before 11pm!)
West Street, 01628 477271
An independent coffee shop. We at the Perch love not only coffee but we also have a large selection of teas as well as homemade sausage rolls, soup, sandwiches and much more – all lovingly made in house by our team. We also offer homemade cake, breakfast, brunch, milkshakes and smoothies! If you are looking for an activity to do with the children or a group of adults we also offer pottery painting during the week if you wish to walk in or we also offer party packages. Come in and enjoy a nice cup of coffee and follow our Facebook page to see our latest deals, events and food made that day by the team!

Pips of Marlow
A cafe and sandwich bar, serving a large selection of meals including homemade burgers, omelettes, salads and jacket potatoes. Very popular with the local offices at lunchtime! Pips also serves cooked all-day breakfasts .. which are great value for money. Open from 7am Tues-Fri and 8am Mon closing at 3pm. Saturday’s 8:30am-4pm. Note they are not open on Sunday – a crying shame!
4-5 Anglers Court, Spittal St, SL7 1DB, 01628 472828
With a mid High Street location, this is a popular and convenient spot for a coffee, and a convenient place to meet up, and if relevant to you – are open very early every day. The food and drinks are of course just the same menu as any other Starbucks, but I would have to say that they do at least seem to train the staff to a high standard – the drinks are consistently well made, and the welcome is friendly. This seems to be reinforced by a set of loyal regular customers who I often spot when dropping in!

A Subway… just like all the others – you probably know what to expect. Home of the foot-long roll!
