Day trips and local attractions

Within a short drive of Marlow are a considerable number or worthwhile attractions, ranging from the world famous Windsor Castle, to the local family favourite Odds Farm. Our day-trips from Marlow page has the full listing!

Events

Marlow has a number of regular events adding to the vibrancy of our town.

The Marlow Town Regatta and Festival takes place over two days in June, the first being being a traditional rowing regatta with a subscribers enclosure, the second a family fun day. Both days also have a fun fair in Higginson Park.

Pub in the Park is a more recent addition, but has become a firm favourite. A weekend festival of food from top chefs, bars, and a music line up with huge names all in our little town.

Marlow May Fayre – takes place in May! Higginson Park is full of all sorts of entertainments, stalls, food and drink

Marlow Carnival – usually in September, this is another fabulous event in Higginson Park. Built around a main stage with live music, there are also dance and theatre performances, plus loads of kids activities, food , drink and other stalls. In recent years the event has also brought back the parade of floats through the town centre – so impressive!

Sports

Sports in MarlowThere are a wide range of sports clubs in Marlow, covering the expected football, rugby, hockey etc as well those based on the River Thames flowing through the town- e.g. sailing, canoeing, rowing.

As well as joining or watching sports clubs, there are many regular sports events which you can take part in, including the

  • Marlow 5 Run – a 5 mile road run through town
  • Marlow Half Marathon – a scenic hilly half marathon route, plus a popular 7 mile option.
  • The Burford Bolt 5k, 10k and a fun run – all supporting Burford School
  • The Santa Fun Run – a spectacular event , with Marlow streets filled with runners, kids and even dogs – dressed as Santa! Suits are provided, and its a great fundraiser for Rotary Clubs in Marlow.

Groups and societies

Many of the events featured in our calendar are organised by one of Marlow’s groups and societies. These cover a range of interests including history, archaeology, music, photography and much more.

A few miles away in High Wycombe, Wycombe Swan Theatre shows major touring productions, as well as performances covering comedy, drama dance and plenty more.
