The Cheerful Soul in The Hare and Hounds [Jul 2010 - Russell and Michele have left, so our existing review is out of date, and needs a revisit] Run in partnership with Raymond Blanc, by Russell and Michele who won the BBC TV Restautant show. We visited for a friends birthday and were impressed by a very friendly and warm welcome. During the meal we felt service was quite slow, but we did learn that they were short staffed, so hopefully this was an exception. Food was certainly of high quality, we tried a selection of starters and most of us went for steak main course. Good as the fillet steak was, the skirt steak on offer was a tasty and better value option. All was finished off with indulgent and delicious puddings. Aside from the service niggles, highly recommended and we will revisit! 3 courses excluding wine approx £30-£35 per head. Henley Road, 01628 483343

Went for lunch. Haven't been in last 5 years and decided to go on spur of moment. Excellent decision, I had roasted salmon and hollandaise and friend had fish and chips done in rebellion beer batter. All extremely tasty. Very quiet but hopefully it will get busier. With standard of food it deserves to. Will definitely return with family. Rating:

We went here for our 31st wedding anniversary and were made to feel very special. As soon as we arrived staff greeted us and congratulated us,the table was sprinkled with hearts and the dessert plate carried a happy anniversary message piped in chocolate.The food was very good and substantial so I will definately tell my friends. Rating:
