Prince of Wales – Jam Night, gigs, and rugby

Prince of Wales Jam Night 07First things first – the Prince of Wales – what great pub. A proper pub.

I recently popped along to check out their Jam Night, held every Wednesday from 8.30pm, and had a really enjoyable time (listening, not playing or singing!).

It was very much an acoustic based evening – with guitars and fiddles being prominent, providing a lovely ambiance but allowing you to still have a conversation a bit further away. There wasPrince of Wales Jam Night 04 a real mix of music played by those attending, some were traditional songs, some were written by the individuals themselves… and there was a diverse range of well know artists covered… Simon and Garfunkel, REM, The Beatles … and then Radiohead popped up!

The landlord Niall told me that at some Jam nights they have special guests- renowned in their musical fields, which must make the evening even more special.

Prince of Wales Jam Night 06Everyone is welcome to go along for a listen, or bring an instrument to join in…

If you need other excuses to visit….

Whilst I’m on the subject …. Niall has also made an effort to line up various live music acts in the coming weeks and months, and we have included an image listing those – and of course they will be showing the 6 Nations rugby, expect a good atmosphere for those!
