The Slug and Lettuce (website)
82-84 High Street, 01628 478737
Our pub review:
A spacious pub, attracting a youngish crowd, with a good selection of beers and serving a wide selection of food all day. Part of a well known chain, so nothing like a traditional pub... but does a good job in its target market. DETAILS: Food served: Until 10pm every day. Late license: Fri and Sat until 1am. Beer Garden: Very small (four tables). Parking: On-street only. Children welcome: Yes, until 10PM, kids menu and baby changing. Wifi: No. Disabled access? Yes, with disabled toilets. REGULAR EVENTS: Quiz Night Tuesday, Half-price food all day Monday.

A very well laid out pub with very good selection of drinks and good food.Only criticism is that when the bar gets busy, you can forget about being served unless you wait 30 minutes.Iam not kidding, been there done that. No fault of the excellent and very hard working bar staff, just needs double the amount of bar staff on friday and saturday nights. Please make this happen and the pub will be 5 star! Rating: rating

Oh dear.....we visited on the 5th April the place was crowded (as expected)with only one poor waitress covering approximately 15 tables of varying size, we ordered our food at 3pm.... still no food at 4-10pm-now we could understand if it was something complicated and that took time to prepare but a simple burger and chips and a chicken and chips?? Did they have to go to a nearby farm to shoot the cow? were they waiting for the potatoes to grow? Alas we will never know this outcome as after watching 3 tables get served before us which was quite puzzling as we had ordered our food before they had and nearly chewing on our napkins due to sheer hunger we decided to up and leave and ended up sitting in the car sharing a tuna baguette and a bag of balsamic kettle chips....but at least the drinks were cheap!!
