Sunday 5th December 2010, 10.00 am
Marlow Santa’s Fun Run is jointly organised by the Rotary Clubs of Marlow and Marlow Thames as a fun event for entrants and spectators alike. Dressed in bright red Santa costumes, runners set off from Higginson Park and up the High St on a 5km (3 mile) run – creating quite a spectacle at the start of the festive season.
This year they are aiming for 1250 entrants- the largest ever for the event.
Aside from being a fun event – the real aim is raising as much money as possible for charity with over £15,000 being raised last year. Participants are encouraged to seek their own sponsors, and can nominate that some of the funds they raise go to their own favoured charity. There will be a free specially inscribed Tee shirt to all entrants who raise £30 for Rotary charities.
The lead charity this year will be the children’s hospice Helen and Douglas House who provide valuable respite care for terminally ill children and their families.
Entry is open to anyone 12 years of age or over on 5th December and costs £13 each (£10 for under 18’s) if you book before 27th November. If any spaces are still available after this date then the entry fee will be £20. Entry fee includes a winner’s medal and a free Santa costume.
