The Dog and Badger in Medmenham will be opening on Wednesday 29th July!
If you have driven past in recent months you will have noticed the extensive work being undertaken, and we went along yesterday for a sneak preview visit to check out the result. It has to be said: the transformation is dramatic – the design and decor is simply stunning.
The owners Nick and Jane Robinson purchased the freehold from Enterprise Inns in 2014, and since then have used some top designers to help create the new look and feel, in addition to their own personal touches. Rather than me go on about it – just have a look at the photos below, we loved it! The bar in particular stands out, and that’s not even taking into account the impressive range of drinks on display. Being a free house, i.e. not tied to a brewery, they have been able to select an interesting a varied choice of lagers and ales.
They have also built a highly experienced team around them – a general manager, head chef, sommelier (noting they have over 400 wines!) and so on. At time of writing they have job vacancies in some areas – see thedogandbadger.com/vacancies.htm
Based on our preview visit , it is easy to imagine The Dog and Badger becoming a real destination pub and restaurant – a very exciting addition to our local food and drink venues. We will be back once it opens for more details, and of course a proper review!
Opening times and food
There will be a phased opening, with the full restaurant service coming later in August. For now they will be open 9am for coffee and pastries, and then the bar menu will be available from 12pm – 9pm. It should be noted the bar menu has a good selection – nibbles, snacks, sharing boards and mains. So, something fine if say dropping in when cycling past, or if wanting a more substantial for a main meal.
During this initial period, opening times will be:
- Wednesdays and Thursdays: 9am – 11pm
- Fridays and Saturdays: 9am – midnight
- Sundays: 9am – 10.30pm
- (ie Mondays and Tuesdays: Closed)
