Marlow is gearing up for its annual Switch on and Shop event, taking place on Thursday, 19 November from 6.00 pm.
A well-known local celebrity (to be revealed -watch this space!) will flick the switch, at around 6.30 pm, from the upper deck of a double decker bus in the High Street, illuminating the town’s stunning display of Christmas lights.
Shops will open late, and there will be special promotions, offers and Christmas displays throughout the town. Next Stage choir and Marlow FM will be there to keep the Christmas spirit going. Marlow’s own Treasure Trail will also launch on the same day.
This year there’ll be particular interest in the Christmas tree on The Causeway, where 100 special baubles carrying individual seasonal messages from Marlovians will be displayed. Available now at www.marlow-tc.gov.uk at £30 each, every bauble will contain a personal message. Everyone who buys a bauble will also be invited, with three guests, to a Festive Drinks Reception with the Town Mayor on 19th November.
All car parks around the town will be free throughout the day to encourage both residents and visitors to start their Christmas shopping. The High Street will be closed briefly at around 5.30 for the switch-on ceremony.
