The Sprintathon 2017: Kiss My Asphalt!

| | ,

It’s back, with even bigger ambitions!

On Saturday 16th September rivals across town will be locking lycra in the ultimate race. Last year, 422 relay runners smashed the world marathon record with a time of 1:46:26,
raising £25,000 for Stand Up To Cancer www.sprintathon.org

This year the Sprintathon team are taking it up a notch and thanks to sponsors
Clear Channel and SAS, the plan is to smash last year’s fantastic result as 105 teams of four, compete against each other for ultimate bragging rights. They will be raising funds for Stand Up To Cancer.

The new team competition element will see the fastest lap team win the Sprintathon Showdown trophy. Places are filling up fast but there is still a chance for teams to sign up and maybe challenge another team to a head-to-head duel?

All you need to do is to find four people who are reasonably quick
over 100m and willing to pay £5 each to enter. You can sign-up here –

Mark Evans, Sprintathon creator, said: “Cancer is not going away any time soon and unfortunately we lost another family member to the disease since the last Sprintathon. This year Marlovians will attempt to beat the marathon record that we set (1:46:26), as well as the 1 hour distance team relay record (we were 300m short last year).
Whether you are a butcher, a baker or a candlestick maker, the new Sprintathon Showdown trophy is the perfect way for businesses to join in the bonkersness and challenge their rivals to a duel, whilst helping to raise crucial funds for cancer research. We also have Google and Facebook battling to be the fastest internet giant in the
UK to add extra spice to the occasion.”

Jimmy Hall, bone cancer survivor, Marlow resident and star of the 2016 Sprintathon added: “I can’t wait to take part again. Please show your support and donate as much as you can since cancer still has us on the run.”
