*EXCLUSIVE* The Resolute Cafe – coming soon!

| |

You might remember MyMarlow was first to report that Costa in Higginson Park was closing, and now we are happy to be the first to share the details of what will replace it!

We spoke to Nina & Karl, who will be opening the “The Resolute Café” very soon.  The couple currently live with their family in Windsor,  but are in the process of moving to Marlow. This will be the first time they have operated a food and drink establishment, and they are very excited at the prospect!

What’s the food and drink offering?

First off – you will be still able to grab coffees, teas and soft drinks – to drink in or take out.
Now for the changes from Costa!
  • The initial food offering will be built around pizza-  sold by the slice and also whole. The dough will be freshly made in-house. There will also be salads to purchase.
  • There will be fresh hot donuts with dipping sauces,  a selection of pastries etc, and whippy ice cream.
  • They are in the process of applying for an alcohol licence
  • All food and drinks will be available as takeaway, sit in or on the tables outside
  • Being independent, they can quickly evolve – and are keen to take on customer feedback in the early weeks!

All Day opening?

The intention is to open from approx 7am – 10pm , enabling food service from breakfast well into the evening and as a sit in option.

When?

Nina and Karl have two stages planned for their opening. Phase 1 will involve a very quick makeover and machinery install in order to open in the short term in pop-up form, aiming for mid June and specifically Marlow Town Regatta weekend. They intend to open with the full food offering mentioned above. They will then close during winter months for a 2 week full refurbishment, allowing them to open for Phase 2 with the layout and decor they have envisioned.  The food offering is envisaged to be broadly the same as during the “pop up” phase.

Comment from the new owners

Nina told us: “Resolute means strong, determined and unwavering- and as a small independent that is what we hope to be. We very much hope the locals will welcome and support us and pop down to see us, also that they will bear with us while we find our feet on this brand new adventure of ours! We are really keen to get customer feedback during our pop-up phase, and hope to evolve the menu over time if appropriate”

Nina also added that “Previous assumptions made on social media regarding rent amounts are vastly inaccurate and exaggerated. Our brand new lease bears no relation to what Costa may have been paying at the end of their lease. We are also happy to report that we have taken on some of the Costa staff that were made redundant.”

MyMarlow’s view

We think it is fantastic to have an independent in the park again. Nina and Karl have a passion to make something we will all want to frequent, and being independent can be quick to adapt if needed. We wish Nina and Karl all the best, and will be glad to support them on here, and by visiting often!
