Picnic in the Park: an exciting new event this month!

| |

Here’s a VERY pleasant surprise, following the postponement of Pub in The Park … Marlow WILL have a big event in Higginson Park to look forward to very soon!

Picnic in the Park” will be from 24th to 27th Sep, and is 4 nights of comedy, live music and great food. Headiners include Rick Astley, Jack Savoretti, Dara Ó Briain, Josh Widdicombe, Tom Allen and Mark Watson

So, Picnic in the Park is BIG in terms of headline acts, but a LOT smaller than Pub In The Park in terms of ticket numbers, given the social distancing aspect as you might expect. We’ve had a look at all the detail, and can see there has been loads of effort to make people feel as comfortable as possible – read the safety policy to get an idea.

A quick heads up – tickets will go on sale this Friday 4th September. Those who sign up in advance will have the opportunity to buy before they go on general release, and numbers are very limited.

So, lots to get excited about – let’s get into the detail!

How Rick Astley inspired a new Marlow event…

When Rick Astley realised he couldn’t make the new dates for Pub in the Park next May in Marlow, he made an offer to avoid disappointing his fans: “Build me a small socially distanced theatre and I’ll perform twice on the same day!” So, the Pub in the Park team designed an innovative, socially distanced outdoor theatre space to host Rick this September.

That’s how Picnic in the Park was invented – Pub in the Park’s small socially distanced cousin; a mini festival of comedy nights and live music featuring big names, but not many tickets.

The Line up – 2 night of comedy, 2 nights of music

Rick Astley, Jack Savoretti, Dara Ó Briain, Josh Widdicombe, Tom Allen, Reginald D Hunter, Mark Watson and more will all be performing over the weekend, here’s the detail:

How it works – personal spaces and top food to pre-order

Visitors will be able to book their own picnic table or bench in an enclosed area, have delicious food and drinks delivered directly to them, sit back and enjoy the show. This is explained in more detail in the “how it works” part of the website, and it is also worth checking out the FAQs

Michelin starred Chefs Tom Kerridge, Paul Ainsworth and Atul Kochhar have all signed up to cook, and will be serving tasty dishes across the weekend.

Chef Tom Kerridge says, “We are so incredibly grateful to Rick. What a legend offering to perform not once but twice to accommodate his fans! He has inspired us to do more and we really hope you can join us. The line-up of live comedy and music we have managed to secure for the rest of the weekend is sure to keep the Marlow folks entertained.’’

Tickets for all sessions will be limited. To get priority access, customers are encouraged to sign-up to the newsletter.
