This spring, the team behind Japanese restaurant Dinings SW3 in Knightsbridge will take a trip to Marlow for a weekend-long residency at The Oarsman restaurant, running 23rd to 25th April.
Taking over The Room Upstairs – The Oarsman’s intimate first floor dining space formerly home to Simon Bonwick’s The Troublesome Lodger – the three-day collaboration brings Dinings SW3’s distinctive Japanese cooking style to Marlow for the very first time. Guests will be seated on a single shared dining table, where they will be presented with a multi-course omakase menu (meaning as chosen by the chef) showcasing Executive Chef Masaki Sugisaki’s signature style, which combines authentic Japanese technique with subtle European influences.
Approaching its tenth anniversary, Dinings SW3 is one of London’s best-loved Japanese restaurants. Located close to Knightsbridge and Sloane Square, Masaki and his team orchestrate a unique, izakaya-inspired experience within the restaurant – elegant yet informal – offering long-standing Dinings SW3 signatures alongside weekly-changing specials and dishes adapted to the seasons.
Hoping to recreate that same spirit in Marlow, guests at The Oarsman can expect dishes such as Koji cured venison tartare, Charred hand-dived scallops and a sushi course, with many plates shaped by Masaki’s commitment to sustainability and his ‘gill-to-tail’ philosophy, ensuring thoughtful use of the whole catch.
Dinings SW3 residency at The Oarsman will run on Thursday, April 23rd (dinner), Friday, April 24th (lunch & dinner) and Saturday, April 25th (lunch & dinner). The lunch sitting will feature a slightly shorter menu. Each experience will begin with a welcome cocktail and optional drinks pairings will showcase carefully selected wines and sakes to complement the dishes.
