Food lovers took to Marlow’s streets in force last night as nine restaurants opened their doors to Marlow Tastes, the town’s mystery supper safari. MyMarlow attended this year’s event – it was great fun, and incredibly well organised!!
Almost 500 diners enjoyed gourmet menus ranging from traditional British fare to international dishes, and raised a record sum for local charities.
The evening started with drinks receptions at All Saints Church and the Shelley Theatre, and then began the mystery journeys around town, led by 70 volunteer guides from organisers Marlow Thames Rotary and the charities involved. None of the diners knew which restaurants they were going to for each of their three courses, until the guide for their group dropped them off!
Taking part were the Compleat Angler, La Cantina del Vino, Cote Brasserie, The Ivy Marlow Garden, Lavvin, Piccolino, The Oarsman, Suum Kitchen and Vaasu.
The reception was sponsored by three local firms, Macbeth Insurance, Savills and B P Collins LLP.
In total, over £55,000 has now been raised for local charities by Marlow Tastes. This year the lead charities are Horizon Sports Club, who engage disabled young people in sport and physical activity, and Florence Nightingale Hospice who support patients living with life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses.
