Last night at Court Garden, Marlow Town Council held two meetings, culminating in the election of a new Mayor and Deputy Mayor. Members of the public were also free to attend.
The first part of the evening was the Annual Parish Meeting, where the Parish Report 2026 was presented, a copy of which can be found here on the Town Council website.
The meeting opened with outgoing Mayor Cllr Muryel Boulay explaining the Town Council’s four main strategic themes for the next three years:
- caring for the town and keeping it clean, sustainable and resilient to climate and environmental change
- making the community more connected and supporting local organisations and events
- improving movement around Marlow, including transport alternatives to cars and easing traffic
- making better use of the town’s assets and investments to generate income for council services.
Following this, questions from residents were taken, covering river water quality, the canoe club and “no mow May”

The meeting then moved into the formal Annual Town Council Meeting. Muryel gave a closing speech reflecting on her year as mayor. She said she was glad she had put her name forward and said her intention had been to put a human face to the role.
She thanked the council office staff, committee chairs and councillors for their work, and mentioned her highlights of her year as Mayor – see the Mayor’s report in the Parish Report for details.
The year had ended with the Mayor’s charity walks, walking with a different person each day for a month. The walks had raised over £1,700, with a hope of reaching £2,000 to split between local charities Wild Marlow and Brighter Future Together. New Mayor elected
The meeting then moved to the election of the new mayor and deputy.
Cllr Jenny Simnett was voted in as the new Mayor of Marlow. with Cllr Olwen Elliot as deputy Mayor. Jenny served as deputy Mayor last year, and at MyMarlow we wish both of them every success in their new roles.
The meeting concluded with voting in members of the various Town council committees.
