Olympic action at the Marlow Sports Club

Are you ready for the Olympics? 28 July – 12 August 2012

You thought all the action was at the Olympic sites – think again! Marlow Sports Club has put together a programme of fantastic events for the Olympic fortnight so that you don’t need to trek miles to get to the events – Make Pound Lane your Olympic home for the fortnight and support the Club at the same time.

The Club are inviting all local residents to take part in one of their events or just go down and watch and have a drink in the bar. It’s like being at the Stadium, but the food and drinks are cheaper and much more convenient!

Big Screens – in both the lounge and the Old Pavilion so you can watch all the action!

Club Bar – Open every evening from 5pm until late

BBQ’s – 5-7pm from Sunday 29 July to Thursday 9 August

Chilli night for the Mini Olympics event (see details below)

Events

(all take place in the late afternoon and early evenings)

Rush Hockey Festival Sunday 29 July to Friday 9 August – A fun 5 a side hockey event with mixed teams from local companies, Ladies teams and MSC members. Teams will play three or four times in the fortnight. Contact Mike Irving mirving@swbgs.com and 07414556619 for more information.

Mini Olympics CompetitionFriday 10 August @ 6.30pm – open to all.

Test your skills with a tennis ball! Score as many points as possible by taking part in a range of competitions across all sections using a tennis ball! All participants will then enjoy a bowl of chilli and dessert, with prizes and a great raffle. Tickets cost just £6.

The Golden Weekend!Saturday 4 August & Sunday 5 August.

Medal prospects include: Usain Bolt, Jessica Ennis, Mo Farah and many more. Just turn up and enjoy a BBQ and drinks.

About the Club

Marlow Sports Club is a community sports club, Situated along Pound Lane, offering a home and facilities to a total of over 1,500 members.

As a charity, their objective is to provide facilities for the sports and recreation facilities to the  inhabitants of Marlow and the surrounding area.  They are home to 5 clubs involved in various sports and activities including cricket, youth football, hoclkey, running and tennis.  In addition, they have introduced  a social “Friends of Marlow Sports Club” Membership.

  1. Sunday 12 August 3-6pm Sports Taster Sessions for Adults and Children. Free entry, free parking, BBQ and bar so come and try something new: Volleyball, Softball, Ju-jitsu or Netball.
