Marlow’s new Christmas lights went up earlier this week and we think they look stunning – a very classy display!
Along the High Street are garland lights spanning the width, with matching spiral decorations on the lamp columns in West Street and Spittal Street. 50 real Christmas trees decked with white lights adorn the shops, at first floor height on either side of the High Street.
This underlines the Town Council’s aim to make Marlow the most attractive and vibrant town in the Thames Valley.
Mayor Jocelyn Towns commented on the display, saying: “We’re delighted that we’ve been able to go ahead with new Christmas lights, and would like to thank our sponsors this year, including the Shanly Foundation and the Chamber of Commerce, for their generosity and support.” She went on to say that the Council had responded to a number of requests for new Christmas lights in meetings held this September with residents and various groups in the town.
The Town Council will be heavily reliant on sponsorship as the best way to ensure the Christmas lights continue, and it is hoped to expand the effort in the future, possibly extending the small Christmas trees into West Street and Spittal Street.
If you have not had the chance yet – we suggest you get out and check them out! Or, you could of course wait for the Late Night Shopping event on Thursday 6th….
They are quite nice. I like how they are minimalist and just seem to float, like snow. These are much better than the overstated cheesy neon lights that are used everywhere else. Very quaint.
I love the new Christmas lights, pretty and subtle.
The previous ones looked tacky. It is also lovely with the rope lights round lamppost and matching tree lights.
Lovely!
