Edd China brings ‘World’s fastest sofa’ to Marlow’s Switch on and Shop

| |

This year’s Switch on and Shop welcomes Edd China, TV presenter, mechanic, and inventor, who will ‘flick the switch’ for the town’s beautiful Christmas lights from the top of a double-decker bus in the High Street, on Thursday, 22nd November.

But there will also be another contender for public attention on the night and it will be parked right next to the bus – Edd’s three-seater sofa vehicle, known widely as the Casual Lofa. It originally set the Guinness World Record for “fastest furniture” at a chart-topping 87mph. The street legal vehicle sports a pizza-tray steering wheel, and neat little flower pots that serve as indicators. Under the bonnet – or at least under the cushions – is an A-series Mini engine.

*Competition Time* [NOW CLOSED, Winner was a very lucky Vicky Everitt!!]Thanks to Marlow Town Council, one lucky MyMarlow Facebook follower will get the chance to have a ride with Edd on the sofa, on the day of the Switch On! See the post on our Facebook page to enter, and T&Cs at the end of this article.

Elsewhere in the High Street will be real snow (from machines), Marlow FM with plenty of Christmas tunes, and crowds of people to see Marlow’s stunning Christmas lights illuminated once again.

The High Street will be closed from 5.00-7.30 pm. The switch-on ceremony will take place at 6.30 pm.
