MyMarlow Sports Roundup 12-11-18

| |

It’s that time of the week again and here’s another MyMarlow sport round-up covering the weekend’s action.

Football

Marlow FC logoMarlow FC will be disappointed not to have taken all three points as they drew 0-0 to Egham town.

The Blues looked impressive throughout but lacked the killer instinct that saw them put four past Chipstead last week.

But the side will no doubt be happy that they restricted Egham town’s chances and kept yet another clean sheet – a hallmark of the work manager Mark Bartley has done in charge of the club.

The draw extends Marlow FC’s unbeaten run to six games in all competitions, as they face Hayes and Yeading on Saturday at home.

Marlow Girls FC went one better, with all three sides bagging three points at the weekend.

The U13s beat Goring 4-2, while the U15 dominated Maidenhead, scoring six without reply.

The U14 continued their push for top spot in the East Berks Division 1 as they put in a dogged display to beat Sandhurst Rockets 8-3.

The girls are now one point off Tilehurst in 1st and will want to go one better than last year after finishing runners up in the 2017/18 season.

Hockey

Yet another positive week for the sides at Marlow Hockey club, and no result was more impressive than the Ladies 1s victory over Guildford that took them to the top of the league.

Two goals from former GB and England hockey player Jane Smith was matched by her teammate Kerri Smith, with Sarah Pearce bagging one of her own.

The result sees the ladies head into this week’s fixture with Havant Ladies 1s as league leaders.

Other results included Marlow u14 Girls 9-0 victory over Surbiton, the U16 girls put 7 past Reading, while the boys u18 won 2-0 away at Sevenoaks.

Rowing

Marlow Rowing Club logoMarlow Rowing Club crews competed on the Tideway (the tidal part of the Thames) for the Head of the River Fours on Saturday 3rd November. We would have mentioned this last week, but official results were delayed due to various appeals.

In the end, battling the chilly and windy conditions, rowers returned to Marlow with six top-five finishes and a victory for the Junior Challenge W4+ in their event.
