Atul Kochhar’s new Vaasu opens today

| |

Twice Michelin starred chef Atul Kochhar opens his 2nd second restaurant in Marlow today. Atul already has the highly regarded Sindhu at the Compleat Angler, as well as other venues elsewhere of course!

Due to open initially for take-away and delivery only from 10th July, Vaasu will be offering food inspired by Atul’s travels across India.  The menu is set to showcase North Indian cuisine, paying particular homage to Punjab, Delhi and Rajasthan.

The take-away menu offers a selection of dishes giving an idea of the cuisine we can expect when the 80-cover restaurant can welcome guests to dine in what promises to be a relaxed and welcoming environment – we look forward to sharing details of this in due course!

Atul Kochhar commented: “The states across India offer a bounty of beautiful flavours, aromas and spices – from places where the tandoor oven and tawa griddle are kitchen essentials. Our new restaurant Vaasu brings all of this inspiration together, celebrating the life and culture of India through a menu of magnificent dishes.  We will give guests the opportunity to experience charming Indian cuisine in their own homes and to take-away until we can open this new casual and quirky setting.”

The food

At MyMarlow we were lucky enough to get a sneak preview of the food yesterday. We were delighted to be guinea pigs for the delivery service 🙂

Dishes we had included starters of MURG MALAI TIKKA (Chicken Tikka marinated in Somerset Cheddar cheese, Cream & Basil) and ATUL’S CHICKEN TIKKA PIE (Grilled Chicken Tikka, Potato Mash & Berry chutney). Mains included JHINGA TAWA MASALA (Pan-fried Tiger Prawns with Ajwain & Peppers) and NARIYAL GOSHT (Braised Lamb with Coconut & Onions). It was all delicious!!! Everything was packed with wonderful flavours and in generous portions.

The Details

Vaasu is located at 2, Chapel Street, Marlow SL7 1DD at the former Italian restaurant, Villa D’Este, which closed its doors last year.
