*GALLERY* Chris Evans secretly switches on Marlow’s Christmas lights!

Something special happened in Marlow around 4am today – Virgin Radio presenter, and Marlow resident, Chris Evans switched on Marlow’s stunning new Christmas lights!!

With the usual “Switch-On” not possible due to Coronavirus, Chris drove around town in an open top car with his son Noah, pursued by a socially distanced film crew to create a superb video of the “Secret Switch-On”.

MyMarlow was invited to cover the event, and you can see our photos at the end of this article.

Video- The Director’s Cut

Within a couple of hours of the Switch-On, a short video was created and shared on MyMarlow and other social media.

An extended “Dirtectors Cut” version of the film can be seen on the MyMarlow Youtube Channel (feel free to Subscribe!) :

In the film Chris talks of his love of the town he lives in, and wishes everyone a very Happy Christmas.  At the close of the film, Marlow Bridge was illuminated, for one night only, thanks to lighting company Lumatech.

“We’re hugely grateful to Chris for helping us to switch on our renowned Christmas lights this year,” the Mayor said. “We were sorry to have to cancel the live event, but hopefully this will make up for it. The team has done a fantastic job in creating the film, and we very much hope people will enjoy the results.”

On behalf of the Council, the Mayor expressed his gratitude to Brand Events and their production team for their hard work in creating the film, and to all the sponsors without whom the Christmas lights would not be possible.

Our photos give a “behind the scenes” peek at the effort that went into the production of the video, plus of course some photos of the lights themselves – which are all new for 2020!
