Two presenters from Marlow FM have received accolades at the Community Radio Awards 2020. Gemma-Leigh James won silver in the female presenter category, and Amelia Slaughter also won silver for her entertainment show.  Many congratulations to both!!

The awards ceremony took place online on Saturday 12 December.

Gemma-Leigh presents ‘Breakfast’ on Thursdays and ‘Afternoon Gold 90s’. Amelia’s ‘She Said What?’ programme, with its mix of music and showbiz gossip, goes out every Saturday at midday.

Gemma-Leigh said: “I’m over the moon to have won silver again this year, and I can’t wait to do so much more next year. But this award is really for the team – a lot of work went on behind the scenes to keep us all safe and broadcasting.”

Amelia said: “It’s been such a horrible year for everyone, and to be able to bring some fun to everyone’s day via the radio has been a real joy. All the presenters at Marlow FM have been working so hard throughout the pandemic to keep our listeners informed and the community connected, so it’s really lovely for us to receive some recognition.”

Two other presenters had also been shortlisted for an award: Lucy Ashburner for young person of the year, and Angie Burns for newcomer of the year.

More than 460 entries from 90 radio stations were whittled down to five per category.
