A transformed Marlow Library reopens

| |

Marlow Library has reopened to the public, after months of remodelling and refurbishment work! MyMarlow popped in to have a look, see our photo gallery at the end. We were impressed!

The £330,000 investment in the library includes a smart new look throughout, a bigger and brighter children’s space plus lots of comfortable seating and plenty of new books. The computer facilities have also been upgraded and there is a new meeting room, self-service technology and loanable tablets to use within the library.

In addition, there are surprises for children and adults, including the sensory StoryWall® and original art by Kirsty Harris inspired by Marlow’s unique identity.

Martin Tett, Leader of Buckinghamshire Council, said: “It’s fantastic to see the amazing work that has gone into the transformation of Marlow Library and I’m sure residents are going to really appreciate the new services and facilities that are now available.”

In order to ensure social distancing, a maximum of 12 visitors can be in the library at any one time. To avoid disappointment and ensure entry, customers are being asked to use the new online booking system to reserve individual 30-minute slots: https://bit.ly/VisitMarlowLibrary

Customers can of course turn up on the day, but due to the social distancing measures in place, they may need to queue before entering.

Richard Scott, Chairman of Buckinghamshire Council, commented: “I’m very pleased that the refurbished Marlow Library has now reopened to the public. Libraries have a vital role to play in supporting businesses, employment, learning and mental health, particularly at this difficult time.

Richard added, “Having spoken to some of the Marlow Library staff, I know that they’re excited to welcome customers back and show them the new facilities.”

Local MP Joy Morrissey also added. “What a great job the Council has done transforming this building. It really is a modern and vibrant space that now provides a fantastic new resource for local people. My congratulations to all involved.”

The new library will also serve as a Council Access Point, giving residents local access to Buckinghamshire Council services.
