Marlow’s winged celebrity couple named

The winner of Wild Marlow’s ‘Name the Peregrines’ competition is Brooke Prowse (age 11, see photo), who came up with the clever names of Marly (female) and Roy (male) in recognition of Marlow’s twin town Marly-le-Roi.

The pair of peregrine falcons, the world’s fastest birds, got together on the spire of All Saints’ Church in Marlow last year. Wild Marlow installed a nesting platform and a camera to follow their progress and has been rewarded with fantastic flying and mating footage. A clutch of four eggs, laid in early April, should be ready to hatch from around 5th May.

Wild Marlow is planning to host an event about peregrine falcons, when the public can learn more about these fantastic birds from a Bucks Bird Club expert.
