Misya Restaurant opens in Marlow

| |

At MyMarlow, we have been tracking the arrival of Misya turkish restaurant on West Street for some time now! In March we announced the name , following our social media posts in December 2020. We didn’t know much detail back then… but we do now, and we have been lucky enough to visit and check it out!

There are two other Misya restaurants in Stevenage and Welwyn Garden City, and both are very highly rated on Trip Advisor. We spoke to the owner Isa, who explained this is a family business, and they had been looking for another site – and Marlow fitted the bill perfectly.

Open for Takeaway or Garden, indoors coming soon

Under current Covid lockdown, only establishments with a garden can open, and Misya, located where Bills used to be has a lovely little sun trap of a garden. This is where we sat on our visit, and yes they have heaters! Of course, there is always the takeaway option too 🙂

The main indoor restaurant will open on 17th May – and we will revisit then for sure. Probably before, to be honest!

The food

To get an idea of the range, its easiest to just check out the menu here: https://misyamezeandgrill.co.uk/eat-in-menu , but in short there is a huge range of cold and warm starters, grill kebabs, seafood, salads and house specials. The menu highlights vegetarian dishes, but vegans and those with intolerances (eg gluten, dairy) are also catered for – a sign at the entrance just says to speak to the waiting staff who can assist.

The menu contains the “Misya Feast” – a set menu at £28.95 per person. This is served as 3 courses – cold starters, warm starters, mains – which is a selection of kebabs, grilled fish with rice and salad. Perfect for us to get a feel for the range of food we thought and we were right! It was MASSIVE, such generous portions – the photo below is for just ONE person. We asked for it all to come at the same time, mostly to make taking a photograph easier, but it was lovely just picking at it all over a few drinks! The food was delicious, that’s all we need to say – and we are really looking forward to revisit and try more.

Children are catered for on the kids menu with Shish or Kofte Kebab, or Chicken wings with chips or rice. The junior members on our review visit loved the chicken shish kebab!

The service

We had a really warm welcome from the owner Isa and the rest of the team. Genuinely friendly and chatty, and we could tell they were the same with everyone else there too. A welcome like that makes a difference!

The open kitchen (well, behind glass) – great to see the kebabs being cooked over the coals!
Owner Isa and some of the fab team!

Jobs

Misya is looking to recruit local staff – bar staff, waiters and runners, so just drop in for a chat if you are interested.

MyMarlow says

We had a fantastic meal, and it is such good news to have a different type of restaurant in town. Marlow is blessed with some great restaurants of course, but a bit of variety was needed – and Misya has delivered. The food tasted great, adults and kids alike loved it, and it’s great value. Welcome to Marlow , Misya, we will be seeing you again soon!
