Community events in Higginson Park – this week!

From the people who do Pub In The Park …. The Alfresco Theatre will host an exciting series of community events in Higginson Park, alongside The Marlow Comedy Weekender

This week, alongside huge names in comedy come to Higginson Park for the Marlow Comedy Weekender. In addition – The Alfresco Theatre will be hosting a selection of community led events, with support from Jam Theatre and Bucks Council. The week-long programme is designed to get groups, organisations and performers back onto the stage in a safe environment, whilst also getting guests back out into the local park and high street.

Here’s the full run down:

Wed 30th June: Music In The Park

Kicking things off on Wednesday the 30th of June, Jam Theatre presents Music In The Park: Local, Live and Loud. This performances will see live and unsigned solo artists, bands and acoustic musicians grace the stage, for the first time in many months. Fri 2nd July 1.30pm : Marlow Players performance

Friday the 2nd will also see a live murder mystery performance from the Marlow Players. Event is FREE for the community to enjoy – just turn up, but food can be pre-ordered here

Sat 3rd/Sun 4th : JamFest 2021

Jam Theatre Company will also be providing a variety of entertainment at The Alfresco Theatre on Saturday 3rd July and Sunday 4th July as part of JamFest 2021, which is set to include special guest West End performers Jocasta Almgill (Dreamgirls, Sister Act, & Juliet) and Kayla Carter (Rent , Bedknobs & Broomsticks) across 4 different performances. https://jamfest2021.org/jam-shows-jamfest-2021

Throughout : School performances

On Thursday 1st July and Friday 2nd July, the Theatre will play host to end of year performances from Spinfield SchoolDanesfield School, and Great Marlow School.

On Monday 5th July, Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School will be hosting their summer concert, filled with incredible musical performances and recitals from the pupils of the school. Following their incredible performance at the Marlow Christmas Drive-In, this is not one to be missed.


Cllr Alex Collingwood , of Buckinghamshire Council said: “We’re proud to support this brilliant initiative. With the pandemic stopping many of these schools and performances from going ahead, we’re very excited that The Alfresco Theatre provides a chance for them to get out their performing to a live audience again.”

The full Alfresco Diner Menu will be available to purchase from at all shows, so guests will be able to indulge in the incredible Alfresco Diner menu, designed exclusively for the Theatre.

Marlow’s Comedy Weekender 1-4 July

Alongside the community shows throughout the week-long programme will be The Alfresco Theatre’s first ever Marlow Comedy Weekender, featuring the biggest and best names in UK comedy, including headliners Russell Howard, John Bishop, Simon Amstell and Al Murray.
