Marlow Santa’s Fun Run – final updates

| | ,

The Rotary Clubs of Marlow are pleased to announce that they are now close to full capacity for entries to the 2022 Marlow Santas Fun Run, taking place Sunday 4th December. Nearly 3,000 participants are expected and deliveries/collection of costumes will take place over the next two weeks.

At MyMarlow we are as excited as ever to be covering and participating in the event again!

Two extra items worthy of mention at this time:

ONE CAN TRUST – a big collection!

One Can Trust (the well-known local foodbank) is already confirmed as a lead charity for the event. The Fun Run organisers have now agreed with the charity that a stall will be located near to the park entrance on December 4th – and entrants/spectators are invited to bring a donation to help those who are dependent on the food bank over Christmas.

They particularly welcome tinned goods (meat meals and meat pies, fish, cooking sauces, UHT milk and mixed veg) and loo rolls. They CAN NOT take alcohol, homemade food, opened packets, frozen or refrigerated items.

One Can Trust are also collecting at Sainsbury’s (Marlow) on the event weekend,  and – with Sainsbury’s support – they will have a display of the most wanted items for purchase, just inside the West Street entrance.

ROAD CLOSURES – December 4th

The organisers are providing details of the Road Closures resulting from the Marlow Santa’s Fun Run on Sunday 4th December. As there will be around 3000 participants, and perhaps 2000 to 3000 spectators, there will inevitably some inconvenience to local residents.

1750 letters are being delivered to local residents and Social Media updates will be widely circulated.

The annual charity event will see runners congregate in Higginson Park from around 8.30 AM ready for a 9.30AM start in the High Street. Leading runners are usually back by 9.50AM, and virtually everyone will have completed by around 11.00AM

The core route progressively impacts the following roads – and associated junctions:

  • Marlow Bridge, High Street (closed 9.20AM to around 11.00AM).
  • Spittal Street (closed 9.20AM to around 10.00AM)
  • Glade Road (closed 9.20AM to around 10.30AM)
  • Station Road, Dedmere Road, Fieldhouse Lane, Westhorpe Road and Wiltshire Road (closed 9.20AM to circa 10.30AM)
  • Parkway (open throughout but drive with care)
  • Fieldhouse Lane, Lock Road, Mill Road, Station Road, and back across the High Street (closed 9.30AM to circa 11.00AM).

Roads may open slightly earlier – or later – dependent on runner progress.

The road closures have all been authorised by relevant authorities and statutory warning signs will be deployed in advance.
