4 ½ years since its foundation as a temporary response to providing Meals for emergency workers in the pandemic a special lunch event was held today to celebrate another successful year for local food charity Meals from Marlow.
The Charity also announced its commitment to operate into 2026
Sunday lunch was served today by the charity’s major new partner COOK, who joined the cause this year as food provider and sponsor.
MyMarlow was there to take photos, and it was a lovely event, and great to meet so many volunteers and recipients.
Dave Bull from Team 4 U said “The event is providing lunch for 100 volunteers, workers, sponsors and beneficiaries to celebrate the support of COOK as food provider and sponsor, and another year providing meals for people in need in the Marlow area”.
The charity which is now operated by an impressive cross section of the Marlow community has this year served 20,000 free meals to locals and is well set and securely funded into 2025. This will mean a total of over 230,000 since foundation.
Commenting at the event, charity co founder Andy Agar said “The arrival of COOK within our team has been transformational for the future of the charity. The food is great, the service is excellent and COOK are clearly deeply committed to nourishing a caring and connected community. They are a brilliant partner”.
The charity has seen the widest range of cross community participation this year with the operation being co-ordinated by All Saint’s Church Team 4U, Supported by around 90 volunteers, designated as the Mayor’s Annual Charity, promoted by Tom Kerridge and with a major fundraising campaign lead by Pub in the Park raising over £50k.
Other Major sponsors along with COOK have included The Shanly Foundation, and NFU Mutual both of whom have supported for 5 years.
Annie from COOK said “we believe in supporting community initiatives where food can play an important part in people’s lives and this is one of the best examples. We love working with Meals from Marlow”
