Marlow celebrates the town’s community spirit

| |

At the Mayor’s annual Civic Celebration at All Saints’ Church on The Causeway last Sunday, 23rd March, Marlow residents came together to celebrate the town’s community spirit and togetherness.

The Mayor’s Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Barbara Whitehead, who has contributed much to the Marlow community over the past seventy years. The award, presented by The Countess Howe, His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, recognised Barbara’s unwavering commitment and invaluable contributions to local initiatives within the town.

The service also featured talks by two local volunteer organisations: Lighthouse, the group that runs holiday clubs for children, and Marlow Age Concern. Their speeches underscored the importance of volunteering and the impact of dedicated individuals who give their time to help others.

The gathering was treated to musical performances by Sir William Borlase’s School chapel choir and a poetry reading by Arran Bligh, a student of Great Marlow School.

The event was a moving tribute to the Marlow’s community and a celebration of the many individuals who work tirelessly to make it a better place for all.
