Bucks Open Studios 2011 takes place from 18 June to 3 July 2011 and is the largest visual arts event in the county. In the last two weeks of June every year over 480 artists and makers, in over 182 different venues across Buckinghamshire, open their studios and run exhibitions and events for the public to visit.
This year is the biggest so far with a record number of participants, venues and new entrants, and they anticipate exceeding last year’s record of just over 25,000 visits made to studios & exhibitions during the fortnight. 64 new artists and makers are taking part this year.
Participants include painters, watercolour artists, wood turners, basket weavers, metal workers, jewellery makers, book makers, print makers, acrylic and silk painters to name just a few of the many skills to be found in Bucks.
It’s a great chance to be inspired, go behind the scenes, talk to artists first-hand, and see work in progress. Some venues also offer demonstrations or workshops. Others feature group exhibitions, showcasing a wide range of arts and crafts.
