Mat Cousins lived in Marlow his whole life, and sadly passed away in April at the age of 29 due to cancer whilst in the care of Sobell House Hospice. His brother and closest friends are raising funds by taking part in the London to Paris bike ride in September, and full details of their plans are on the Sobell House Charity’s website. To help them reach – and hopefully exceed – their targets a fundraising event is being held in Marlow and everyone is invited, families are welcome.
Plenty of events planned for Sunday 10th July – 1pm onwards
There will be plenty of activities lined up including Xbox Games, Name the Teddy, Guess the Sweets in a Jar, Arm Wrestling Competition, Pool Tournament and more.
Local companies have donated raffle prizes including a 1 night stay (with dinner/wine/breakfast) at the Crowne Plaza for 2, 1 months free membership at the Marlow Club, 3 x stone hand crafted sinks from Hyperion Tiles, an hour long full body massage and the list goes on.
Looking for support of local businesses
The event organisers are seeking further support of local companies, all of whom will will receive free advertising at the event, e.g.
- donation of raffle prizes
- catering companies in the area who would be willing to donate a platter of food each on the day
Mat Cousins lived in Marlow his whole life and the Cross Keys was his local pub. It would be great to see the people of Marlow coming together in his memory to keep the hospice running in order to help other people just like him.

As one of mats brothers, I am so overwhelmed at the support Marlow has given our family. All of mats 4 brothers and mum have now all spread our wings and left Marlow. I wish I could be there on the 10th to help out and represent the family.
Good luck for the fundraiser!
