Teas and More is a family event taking place on July 23rd and 24th from 1.30-5pm at Sutherly, Marlow Common. Entrance to the gardens is free, but a selection of delicious cakes and beverages will be on sale. In addition, there are plenty of games for the children or young at heart, crafts, plant sale, tombola and an auction with a host of items donated from local businesses.
All proceeds from this annual event raise funds for Marlow based charity Bright Tomorrows, who work to provide opportunities for children in Zimbabwe and Haiti who have been affected by poverty, Aids and natural disaster.
Bright Tomorrows is run totally on a volunteer basis, with 100% all donations going straight to make a difference for children. Sarah White from the charity that told us their current work in Zimbabwe focuses on provision of care for Aids orphans in the community by strengthening the capacity of caregivers, providing educational opportunities and through seed planting projects that encourage self-sufficiency.
In Haiti they have funded tents and shelter for children and families affected by the 2010 earthquake, provided educational support for children and run a breakfast club for children at a tent city. The charity will be returning in October to build new bedrooms for 45 children at a centre in Port Au Prince.
