The sport of softball comes to Marlow during October in the form of FREE beginner’s taster sessions at Marlow Sports Club on
- THIS SUNDAY 14 October – 2-4pm
- Sunday 28 October – 2-4pm
- Sunday 4 November– 2-4pm
Softball is a lot like baseball in terms or rules and how the game is played, but because the ball larger and is pitched slowly to the batter it’s a lot easier to hit the ball. In an initiative by Chalfont Softball Club, its qualified coaches will be on hand to deliver training sessions for beginners in the coming weeks with the aim to generate enough interest to start up a brand new softball team that would play in the local Windsor and Maidenhead Softball League next spring.
“We want to put something back into our league and we hope that we can not only inspire some people in Marlow to start playing softball but to also inspire others from around our league to try to do the same thing in their area” said Chalfont’s coach and development officer, Neil Turner.
He added, “Being mixed sex, it’s a very enjoyable and social sport for all ages that’s incredibly easy to learn, play and progress quickly in.”
Chalfont have partnered with Marlow Sports Club, with the free sessions taking place on their new floodlit hockey astro pitch. During the three two hour-hour sessions, attendees will be coached on the basic skills, participate in some easy to learn drills and then finish with a fun game to put everything learned in to practice.
For more information about the sessions visit http://www.marlowsoftball.co.uk or simply turn up at Marlow Sports Club this Sunday at 2pm.
Marlow Sports Club is situated on Pound Lane, just past the Garden Court Leisure Centre and Higginson Park.
