the coach marlow windows openThe Michelin Guide 2016 has just been released, and its good news for Marlow – specifically Tom Kerridge’s 2 establishments.

Firstly, The Hand and Flowers retained its TWO Michelin stars – and let’s not forget how rare this is – in England there are only 10 restaurants outside London at this level.

And secondly – The Coach has been awarded a “Bib Gourmand”!

Bib…. what?

michelin bib gourmandThe concept of Michelin stars is of course well known, but Michelin also have a different level of award aimed at highlighting establishments “offering good food at affordable prices”.   This is the Bib Gourmand, which Michelin states ” is now rightly considered by our readers to be as important as our Stars.”

There are now 124 Bib Gourmand restaurants in England, nearly half of which are in London. the Coach is one of 18 new entrants in England this year – with a comparable number losing their “Bib”.

What does Mr Kerridge have to say?

Here’s what Tom told MyMarlow.co.uk:  “We are incredibly pleased with being awarded a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide 2016. I am so proud of the whole team at The Coach – Nick Beardshaw, Claire Kreigenfeld, James Shaw and Tom De Keyser, have all led by example and they should be hugely pleased of their great achievement. Thank you Marlow and to all our customers for being so supportive, all we want to be is a fun, buzzy hub of food and drink and to be a great social space.”
