Thursday 11th August – it’s a Silver for Grainger!
Boom! Marlow Rowing Club member and local resident Katherine Grainger today became Britain’s most decorated female Olympian by taking silver alongside Victoria Thornley in the double sculls. The pair were leading for much of the way, but just beaten due to a strong final section by the Polish crew. Video of the race is here www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/36687039 . Also, as the Team GB website highlights, Katherine Grainger has become the first British female to medal at five successive Olympic Games!! A fantastic race, and achievement!
Sunday 6th August – Danson does it again!
Marlow resident Alex Danson scored a cracker of a goal in the first women’s hockey game for Team GB in Rio. The goal can be viewed at about 2:20 in this clip on the BBC: www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/36999444.

Ok, to kick things off – a quick summary of who we will b ekeeping track of:
Alex Danson – Womens Hockey. Alex lives in Marlow, and is a patron of Marlow sports club. Very experienced, and a prolific goal scorer!
Sam Ward – Mens Hockey . Sam is a Marlow resident and does coaching at Marlow Hockey Club.
Katherine Grainger – Rowing – Katherine lives here and is a member of Marlow Rowing Club
