Two presenters from our brilliant local radio station Marlow FM have received accolades at the Community Radio Awards 2019. Gemma-Leigh James won silver in the female presenter category, and Sam Sethi also won silver in the newcomer category.
The awards ceremony took place on Saturday 26 October at the Memo Arts Centre in Barry, South Wales.
Gemma-Leigh presents Thursday Breakfast with her partner in real life, Brian Naylor, and the 90s edition of the Afternoon Gold ‘decades’ show. She has taken part in all of the station’s big outside broadcasts, including Pub in the Park, the Marlow Town Regatta, and the Marlow Carnival. She’s also interviewed several celebrities, including Russell Brand and Tim Brooke-Taylor.
She said: “I’m amazed and honoured. I’ve only been doing radio for a couple of years, and I was up against some real pros. I absolutely love what I do, and I’m so proud of what I’ve achieved.”
Sam joined Marlow FM in September 2018. In a short space of time, he has made a big impression in front of the microphone, with a weekly technology show and a monthly R&B soul show, and behind the scenes, as part of the operations team.
He said: “Being given the opportunity to volunteer on Marlow FM has been a wonderful experience and a total joy. This award really encourages me to do even more.”
Gemma-Leigh and Sam both travelled to Wales and collected their awards in person at the ceremony
Congratulations from us at MyMarlow – deserved recognition for pair of them!
