MyMarlow attended the Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting on Monday 21st October, held at Danesfield House Hotel.
The meeting opened with outgoing President Paul Deriaz summarising the past year, including the campaigning work the Chamber is involved in – supporting Marlow based businesses of all types. Much of this is of benefit to the town overall of course, and goes on “behind the scenes”, although one very prominent aspect of the Chamber’s work is their organisation of the Traditional Late Night Shopping event – Thursday 5th December is the date for 2019!
The main course of business is the appointment of various committee members, and this included the new President – Lesley James of Simplified Money (see photo, with long time Chamber Secretary Jo Braybrooke )
Lesley told MyMarlow “It’s a privilege to be able to take on the position as President of the Chamber. I am very excited about the opportunity and look forward to what I hope will be a great year!”
Following the business part of the meeting, there was a fascinating presentation from David Barber, The Queens Swan Marker. David outlined the history of his role, and that of the annual “Swan Upping” event, which nowadays is focussed on conservation and education.
