Last night Marlow’s Christmas lights were turned on by TV’s Ross Kemp.
A large crowd filled the High Street and Marlow FM kept us entertained as anticipation built up focused on the open top bus outside The Chequers. At 6.30pm Marlow FM’s Tim Ashburner introduced Mayor Richard Scott who gave a short speech thanking Ross, and highlighting how lucky we are to have local celebs happy to switch on our lights, and for no fee too.
Ross was then introduced, and gave a great speech, funny and heartfelt. He talked of his love for Marlow, and especially the friendliness of the people. He also touched on some charities helping people who might not be having such a great Christmas. The full video can be seen on our Facebook page, or shorter versions on Twitter and Instagram.
Ross was happy to mingle with guests in the Chequers and outside, and even dropped by Marlow FM’s outside broadcast unit for an interview. What a great choice he was! 🙂 Well done to Marlow Town Council and everyone involved, and special thanks to the various businesses whose sponsorship of the lights makes it all possible!
