Marlow Rowing Club was formally founded on 16 May 1871, and yesterday to mark the 150th anniversary a special “row past” was arranged.
An 8 was formed with representatives from Junior, Seniors, Masters and Para squads, and all were dressed in Club kit from over the years. They were joined by a selection of other club members in singles and fours, rowing up to Bisham and then back past the club to cheers from members on the club balcony. Well done to all for braving the wet weather too!
The main photo below of the squad in the 8 has (left to right) : Laurie Tilbury, Karen Hammond , Nicola Hannay, Ilse Taylor, Lee Moxon, Naomi Riches, Dave Brindle, Ed Phillips and Lisa Knill (cox)
Of particular note, and historic interest Laurie Tilbury (aged 84) was ALSO in a similar row-past 50 years ago to celebrate the 100th Anniversary – see photo below. Laurie is seated in the same bow position (ie at the front of the boat!)
Happy 150th Birthday Marlow Rowing Club!
