Having just moved to the area, we were pleased to see that the attractive building on the High Street that was once a pub has re-opened and since its opening, we have been there no less than 4 times, and loved every single outing. Its decor is wonderfully cosy with the right balance of informal and smart, and it has a warren of different rooms, so you're not just restricting to sitting in the bar area. I'm not a beer/bitter drinker, but my husband raves about the quality and quantity of draughts on offer, and the same can be said for the extensive and imaginative menu. It essentially specialises in steak with a choice of different cuts, weights and recommended sauces, and the chefs really know what they're talking about when it comes to their menu. Being veggie, I was pleased to see that there's plenty on offer for the non-steak lover visitor, and both the pasta and risotto were lovely. The perfect place for a cosy drink, a hearty or romantic meal, or a spritzer outside while people watching on the beautiful High Street, The Chequers is quite rightly establishing itself as the best place to go and eat and drink in Marlow. How sad that this pub is closed. I lived in Marlow from 1995 to 1997. My lunch every day was at this pub. I ordered the soup of the day with pot of tea --loved all food I was served. Had great New Year's Eve Parties.....met friends who were servers from New Zealand, Australia, Ireland, and South Africa....still in contact with the persons from last two countries. Christmas tree lighting downtown was wonderful...I have so many great memories and about 4 or 5 photo albums full of fond memories. OPEN OPEN OPEN>>>>> Go back to the PUB like it was back in the 90s. When the restaurant lost it's wonderul ambience and fun, it went downhill (visited later years) Loved Marlow!!!! Still do. Rating:
