Even more restaurants?

| |

Have you noticed the various signs for possible new restaurants in town?

I spotted one over the weekend – quite prominent above Steamers Trading Cookshop . This would sound a bit of an odd one.. referring to the upstairs part of the premises, accessed via the stairway in the middle of the shop!  [Update 5 Aug 10 – the property agents confirmed this will be the case, accessed via the internal grand staircase, and opening within a month or two] Its quite a large space, and the previous pub tenants “The Market” had a bar and dancefloor up there – but unless I’m missing something it could only be open during the day, and accessed via the shop.

The next one is also quite intriguing, and located in the building that is to the side of Marks and Spencers, which used to be the back of Mustoo Brand.  Details of this property are at www.dbk.co.uk, which includes the following:

“The property comprises 2 adjoining Grade II Listed barns. Planning consent has been granted for A3 use (food & drink), together with a number of alterations and additions to the property. The most significant being the installation of a glazed frontage. The development will provide for approximately 68 covers with additional seating (approximately 20) within the courtyard to the front of the property. There will be double height ceilings with exposed beams, offering a spacious and sophisticated dining area.”

I guess these will only actually end up as restaurants if someone takes on the leases.. watch this space for news!   Some might say Marlow has plenty of restaurants already, but the more variety the better I say – and we just HAVE to visit to review of course!

27 Jul 2010- updated.  DBK sent me an image of what the refurbished Barn exterior should look like. It would make quite a change from the existing view!
